New Delhi: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has demanded minority status for Jamia Millia Islamia and the university should be exempted from OBC quota.
According to the resolutions passed by Central Advisory Council of JIH at the end of its sessions held recently, the organisation expressed surprise and concern that the government on one side admits the educational backwardness of Muslims and makes promises but on the other side adopts dithering in granting Muslim minority character to their own established institutions.
Expressing concern over the growing trend in the country to blame Muslims and Muslim organizations for every act of violence and terrorism, the organisation pointed out, 'the country is also blindly copying the anti-Islam and anti-Muslim war declared by US on the pretext of war on terror, wherever any incident of terrorism occurs, it is immediately attributed to Muslims.' Showing irresponsibility, police and administration express their opinion in media without any substantial evidence. Whether a mosque is attacked or a graveyard or a shrine or the national parliament, Muslims are blamed for every incident. Similarly, local Muslim organizations are tied with militant organizations and no evidence is deemed necessary for this allegation, JIH said.
On the country's rising rate of inflation, the organisation said, 'it is resulting more troubles for public.'
JIH also demanded immediate end of Gaza siege, provision for essential needs of Palestinians and restoration of Hamas government.
