New Delhi 09 Oct 2008: Jamaat held an Eid get-together here with leaders of different religions on Wednesday evening at its Headquarters in Okhla.
Ameer-e-Jamaat Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari addressing to the get-together, offered his best wishes and reminded the audience about the month of Ramadhan, which has just preceded the Eid. He said, "the month long programme of Ramadhan was characterised by fasting, which includes "God Consciousness" in the human beings. In this annual training, the believers learn to control their physical urges and to face hardships met in the path of obedience to God."
The Jamaat chief deplored the anti-Islamic propaganda in the post 9/11 world, which depicts, Islam as a violent creed. He explained the Quranic method of conveying the message of Islam which consists of i) appeal to reason ii) appeal to noble emotions and iii) debate in a healthy and civilized atmosphere. "Islam respects freedom to choices, given by Allah to all human beings and does not permit coercive means to propagate Islam," he said.

The Jamaat chief emphasising the Quran's message of human dignity, said, "all human beings are children of a single parent and all of them deserve our respect. There are no high or low among them. This human dignity implies that human beings must be free to develop to the best of their abilities."
The Jamaat chief deplored the sad fact that minorities were facing aggression and injustice in many states of India like Orissa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Assam. "Such a large segment of population cannot be treated as 'aliens' and in the best interest of the country, a fair deal for the minorities is essential. There is a widespread feelings of insecurity and team the minorities. It must be removed and they should get justice. Muslims had voted for UPA with great expectations but those hopes have been belied. Though Sachar Committee was a positive step, there has been no concert action on the ground. Muslims are mere disillusioned and the most urgent problem for them is one of security. This grievance must be addressed honestly.

The media should act like a mirror and portray the reality around us. Unfortunately the media is indulged in anti-Muslim propaganda and it is presenting a distorted image of Islam." The Jamaat chief appealed to the media to play a responsible role and to present the real truth behind the current events. "For lasting peace in the society, truth and justice are necessary preconditions," the Jamaat Chief concluded.
